Yesterday, I went to the store and bought a box of Crystal Light On-The-Go Pink Lemonade packets. I don’t know why I chose the pink lemonade over the regular yellow lemonade… I just did. But this started a discussion at work about the difference between pink and yellow lemonade.
Is there a difference? If so, what is the flavor of “pink”?
Personally, I didn’t think there was a difference other than the color. My coworkers insisted that pink lemonade tasted different, but didn’t know what the difference in taste really was. We looked it up and wikipedia said that pink lemonade is usually sweeter. Another source said that the pink is grenadine. Yet another source said the only difference was the color. And another coworker said that pink “tastes like love.”
With all of these ideas floating about, I decided to get to the bottom of it and I called Crystal Light directly using the number on the back of the pink lemonade box. First off, most of the time when you call customer service places, you have to go through a series of menus to even get to the option of talking to a real person. With Crystal Light, the phone rang and someone picked it up. A real person. I was almost too shocked to talk.
But I posed the question, “What, besides the color, is the difference between pink lemonade and yellow lemonade?” I was put on hold for about 3 minutes while the rep researched it for me. When she came back, she said, “Based on the information that I have here, the only difference between the two is the color. There is no difference in the flavor.”
I understand that this is just one source, but since the entire discussion was started based on Crystal Light pink lemonade (and because it was the answer I wanted), I claimed the victory. My coworkers on the other hand still insist that they don’t like the flavor of pink.

Ok, this is hysterical because my friend ordered Pink Lemonade at lunch today and we discussed the difference between the flavors pink and yellow lemonade. I’ve always preferred pink to yellow because it tastes sweeter. I’m also aware that it could be all be in my head.
Now I am kind of want to buy both and do a blind taste test. I probably won’t actually do it, but I kind of want to.
