An explanation of Twitter’s @reply changes

Today, there are a lot of tweets going around about Twitter changing the options of @replies. You may have seen the #fixreplys and #twitterfail tags. But I think there are a lot of people upset over something they don’t completely understand. So let me try to explain… and if this all seems insanely confusing, it is, so bear with me.

Keep in mind, this only affects how you see @replies in your feed (at twitter.com/home, through a Twitter application or as an SMS to your phone). This does not affect what you see if you go directly to a person’s twitter page (ie. twitter.com/username).

A Letter to Recent College Grads

Dear recent college graduates,
I hear a lot of talk about how you will be entering the worst job market since the Great Depression. The unemployment rate is skyrocketing. Just this year, I’ve had to take two furloughs in an attempt to save other people’s jobs, which happened after two rounds of layoffs.

It’s true. The job market and economy suck.

But you don’t need to worry… not for too long at least. Sure, you may have just gotten a diploma qualifying you for a “higher than minimum wage” job in the “not retail” field, and it may be impossible to find a job in that field right now. However, the economy will turn around. Employers will need to fill positions they previously eliminated, and when it comes time to choose between rehiring the people they laid off before and you, they’ll choose you. Here’s why…

Church Search

When I was younger, I was actively involved in church, going to youth group weekly, services on Sunday and Wednesday, and loving God all the time in between.  Then I went to college, where I was taught to question everything.  And I began to question all of my beliefs.

After Julie and I moved to Orlando, she wanted to start going to church.  While she was in college, she was involved in BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministry).  She went through some tough times with her family, and the BCM helped her through. 

I still never got my answers, and based on my experience with Christians, they didn’t want to talk… they just wanted to have their faith and expect everyone else to do the same.  But I love my wife, and wanted her to be happy, so I agreed.  However, I had one demand.  The church had to be “cool,” meaning that I could wear jeans, they played good music (not those corny hymns), and the pastor had to keep me interested.   (more…)
